    Third Class Petty Officer Adam R. Van Winkle, graduated on Sept. 15 at Prototype School. He is learning to work with the Nuclear Reactor to get his qualification to be a Nuclear Reactor Controller Operator. He is currently on a USS Abraham Lincoln CXIU-72 Nuclear Aircraft Carrier, operating in the North Arabian Sea. He is expected back in late fall. He deployed Dec. 8, 2011.     The Little Cypress Mauriceville Bears (9-4) defeated the Livingston Lions (9-4) Saturday 5-2 in the fight to hang on to the second place spot in Dist. 20-4A. The Bears finish off the regular season hosting the Nederland Bulldogs (8-4) on Friday. With the victory LCM bounced back from a tough loss on Wednesday to Port Neches-Groves for the top spot heading into the playoff rounds next week.     The Cow Bayou Swing Bridge will soon be receiving a makeover. The bridge was opened in 1941 and will be totally refurbished, according to Paul Smith, a Texas Department of Transportation environmental specialist. Refurbishing the bridge will cost $2 million dollars versus spending $15 million to build a new bridge. Smith said the bridge rehabilitation project has been in the works for several years, especially since it received some damage from Hurricane Ike.     Most probably don’t know this, but Orange has its own connection to the legendary Texas Stadium — home of the Dallas Cowboys from 1971 to 2008.     The city of Orange approved their annual contract with the city of Orange Swim Team for use of the Orange Municipal Natatorium at their regular meeting Tuesday night. The period covered will be from the end of April through the end of July including two all day swimming events.   • Vehicles at two hotels burglarized overnight

    Several vehicles were burglarized overnight at two hotels in the 2600 block of IH-10. Two vehicles were broken into at the Ramada Inn, and a total of over $1,600 worth of power tools were stolen. In both cases, locks were cut and removed from utility trailers. In the second incident, a vehicle parked at the Holiday Inn Express, had its rear window broken out and the thieves gained entry through the broken window.
