St. Mary Catholic School held its initial meeting in hopes of organizing a 4-H club at the school. The organization had to reach a goal of five committed students before the organization could be possible. James Hammett, 86, departed this world on Sept. 26. He passed peacefully in the presence of his family. James was a minister, a carpenter and an avid fisherman. He loved to go to garage sales and collect "treasures". One of the favorite pastimes of the grandchildren was to go looking at all the goodies he had stored away in his shed. Saturday, Sept. 26, at 9:05 pm, Orange police responded to a call at Dollar General, in the 5700 block of 16th St., Orange. A small child walked into the store alone and was believed to have walked alone from Fox Run Apartments on Allie Payne Rd. The child told officers he was 8 years old and that he had walked alone from his residence at the apartments.
