  • Former Beaumont physician, office manager charged with health care fraud

    A former Beaumont physician and office manager have been charged with health care fraud violations in the Eastern District of Texas, announced U.S. Attorney John M. Bales today. John Q. A. Webb, Jr., 74, of Houston, and Kari Mannino, 30, of Woodville, were indicted by a federal grand jury on Dec. 5, and charged in a 43-count indictment with health care fraud, conspiracy to commit health care fraud, distribution of controlled substances, and conspiracy to distribute controlled substances.     The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) will increase DWI patrols for a 21-day period that includes both the Christmas and New Year holidays.     Teachers at Little Cypress Intermediate School found a way to put student letters to Santa to work for a good cause. There are special mailboxes in the Macy’s stores to mail the letters and for every letter to Santa that they receive, Macy’s will donate $1 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, up to one million dollars.
