TWENTY-TEN ENDS TWENTY-ELEVEN BEGINS The year 2010 has not been an easy year for America. The country was on the brink of a deep depression, the auto industry, GM & Chrysler, faced going under, which would have had a domino effect with citizens throughout the country waiting in bread lines. Large banks and mortgage companies had over extended in the last decade and were in deep trouble. When the year started, the country had lost eight million jobs, unemployment reached nearly 10 percent. Today, as we face 2011, the country...
The playoff picture in the National Football League became a bit clearer as the 2010 season rolls into its final game this Sunday. Mistakes in the late stages of several games last weekend spelled doom for a couple of teams fighting to grab one of the remaining spots in the upcoming NFL playoffs. “Wade fish!?........There isn’t a trout in that lake big enough to make me stand in the water and cast all day this time of the year,” stated an incredulous Terry Martin. No one paid Terry much attention as my clients for the day methodically added layers of clothing before wrestling on their waders and boots. “I don’t even fish out of my boat this time of the year, “he continued as if anyone was even listening. “Its too danged cold. Y’all are gonna go out there and walk...
Alvin Greene, the surprise Democratic nominee in the South Carolina Senate race against incumbent Republican Sen. Jim DeMint, is trying it again. Greene, a political novice, shocked the political world in South Carolina when he emerged as the winner in the Democratic primary for Senate last summer. Party officials urged him to withdraw from the contest when news emerged that he had previously been charged with showing pornographic images to a college student, but he refused to bow out. He did not mount much of a campaign for...
Technology is a great thing, the endless uses for gadgets and other electronic forms of communication have transformed a once very simple sport into a highly technical and ever evolving event. Perhaps my most favorite piece of technology has to be satellite imagery found readily on the internet. The photos of any bay system are right there at your fingertips and only a mouse click away. I know from speaking with countless tournament anglers from both fresh and saltwater...

I have a new shoe on today. It is an ankle bracelet. So far, it seems to be the best. I can walk much better with it on. It will be the last thing I will wear, probably for one month. I think it will depend on me. I just need strength and stability. Contrary to what some think, I did not break my big toe, but my left leg, just above the ankle. I will be glad when I get back to Wal-Mart’s walking again. I really miss seeing all of the new friends that we have met there. I am still waiting on all those recipes that some have p...
