St. Paul United Methodist Church in Bridge City will hold a ground breaking service at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 11, at their future location, 155 W. Roundbunch.
The property was dedicated last fall, and construction of the new church is projected to begin May 15.
Members and friends will meet at the new site to celebrate the ground breaking of a new chapter of their church history.
St. Paul’s history began in a rented building on the corner of Hwy 87 and Roundbunch in Bridge City where the Shell Sevice Station is presently located. In 1944, they moved across the street into a tent at 120 Bland. Once there, they purchased a white frame building for worship. In 1961, they build the A-framed building which stood for 46 years at the corner of E.Roundbunch and Bland. They presently meet in their Family Life Center at the same location. St. Paul wishes to thank the community for its support and prayers and invite all to chare the celebration of a new beginning.
