House fire in Orangefield

Bridge City Fire & Rescue responded to a report of a house fire on Edgar Street in Orangefield at 8:24 p.m., Wednesday night.

McLewis volunteer fire department also responded with a water tanker and additional firefighters.

When crews arrived they found a significant fire in the attached garage.

The garage contained two sport utility vehicles which were also heavily involved in in the blaze.

Fire attack crews entered the structure keeping the bulk of the fire damage to the garage and laundry room areas.

The fire was brought under control at 8:50 p.m.

Crews remained on scene extinguishing hot spots until 11:30 p.m.

The owners were home at the time of the fire, both escaped without injury.

A smoke detector alerted the occupants of the fire.

The cause of the fire was deemed unintentional with a possible origin in one of the SUV’s.
