The fifth-annual tribute to the veterans of Orange County will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, May 25, at the Heritage Veterans Memorial Plaza on the grounds of Orange First Church of the Nazarene, 3810 M.L. King Drive in Orange.
The public is invited to join in the patriotic tribute to all veterans and those currently serving in the military, said Ron Emmert, chair of the committee responsible for the event.
Bill Harrison, author of “Six Days on a Raft” his account of survival during World War II, will be the keynote speaker at the event which will also feature the Southeast Texas Color Guard, Southeast Texas Barbershop Chorus, and Orange Community Band.
The Heritage Veterans Memorial Plaza surrounds a life-size sculpture by Colorado artist Scott Stearman “Tears From a Grateful Heart” depicting a solider kneeling at a gravesite in gratitude and remembrance of a fallen comrade in arms.
The memorial includes the inscription of the names of hundreds of veterans from Orange County.
