Valedictorian of the 2008 graduating class of Bridge City High School is Nicholas Anthony Robertson.
He is the son of Edward and Toni Robertson, grandson of Dan and Earline Miller and Thelma and the late Larere Robertson.
He has one sister, Lauren Robertson.
Robertson is an Academic Honor Roll student, president of the Math Club, captain of the Academic Team, vice president of the National Honor Society, and a member of the Spanish Club and Computer Club.
The Bridge City Chamber of Commerce chose him as Student of the Month in September.
Robertson has competed in UIL Math and Science for several years and is the current 3A-state champion in both Calculator Applications and Mathematics.
He was also voted Mr. BCHS for 2007-2008.
Robertson participated in peer tutoring and played baseball during his years in high school He plans to attend California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in Pasadena, Calif.
majoring in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering.
Salutatorian of this year’s graduating class is Sarah Ann Fontenot.
She is the daughter of Keith and Madge Fontenot.
Her older siblings are Ryan, her brother and Amber her sister.
Fontenot’s grandparents are Allie and Pat Fontenot and Oliver and Rosa Holmes.
She is an Academic Honor Roll student, member and student council representative of the National Honor Society.
Fontenot’s athletic accomplishments include running distance track and pole vaulting for three years.
She competed all four of her high school years as a member of the cross-country team and served as team captain this past fall.
In UIL competition she participated in Prose, Journalism, One Act Play, Math and Science.
She is also a member of the Spanish Club and En Croix, a fellowship of Christian dancers.
Fontenot’s activities outside of school include taking dance for 14 years and being active in her church, Our Lady of Guadalupe, in Port Arthur where she serves as a religious educator for the second grade, a Eucharistic minister, lector, and diocesan representative for her CYO. Fontenot plans to attend Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, La.
She will major in Chemical Engineering with concentration in environmental science and a minor in business.
Graduating ceremonies for the Class of 2008 will be held at Larry Ward Stadium, Friday, May 30 at 8:00 P.M.
