Treasure Hunt is becoming a reality

After an 11-month journey to rezone a portion of their property, Chris and Lisa Durso are beginning to realize their dream. Bridge City council members recently approved to rezone a portion of their property at 2115 W. Roundbunch Road. Treasure Hunt will be the name of the business.

“Our concept is simple, what we want to do is to form a people helping people organization,” says Chris Durso. “We are looking for good people from our community to help those that are less fortunate. We will be selling antiques, consignment items, donated items and even provide an eBay outlet.”

The Dursos’ plan is to help out Bridge City and Orangefield residents who need living assistance. Money from the sale of items at Treasure Hunt or through eBay operators will be used for funding.

Right now, the target groups are senior citizens and children. “We will be donating the use of our building and the property, so overhead will be minimal,” Durso says. “Fifty cents of each dollar donated will go directly toward those in need in out community. The remainder will be used for improvements to our facility.

“We are devising a plan to have “treasure hunts” in our community involving local businesses. We are looking for people that would like to be involved in this gratifying experience. Our desire is to build a team of like-minded people and for our venture to become an example for surrounding communities.”

Durso plans to enlist a board of directors and says the project will run on a limited budget.

“We are always open to new ideas and suggestions. We are currently recruiting from groups of people who have a strong desire to help others. We need volunteers on all levels, including eBay operators. Our goal is to make the difference that is currently not being met. Our mission is very clear and we will exercise any legal means to meet our objective, which is to help those that are truly in need of a helping hand.”
