LifeShare Blood Centers has announced their collaboration with the Missy Jones Community Support Group.  The support group was established to raise funds to offset the medical expenses incurred by Missy Jones. Missy was injured in an automobile accident in Hidalgo, Mexico last month.

Missy is being treated at Methodist Hospital in Houston. Although Methodist Hospital is not a part of LifeShare’s service area, the blood center does provide blood products for Methodist Hospital patients when requested. Methodist Hospital does not accept directed units of blood without pre-payment; however, LifeShare will donate $10 for each unit donated in her name to be directly applied to Missy’s medical bill at Methodist Hospital.

The LifeShare bus will be at Kroger during a benefit barbecue scheduled for Thursday, June 26, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Kroger is located on the corner of Sixteenth Street and Link Avenue. Chicken and link plates will be sold for $8 per plate and all proceeds go to the fund set up by this support group.

If you are unable to attend the blood drive at the Kroger location, you may donate at any LifeShare blood drive or come in to the LifeShare Blood Center located at 4305 Laurel St. in Beaumont. Please inform the LifeShare staff that you are donating on behalf of Missy Jones at Methodist Hospital to ensure that the $10 credit will be applied to Missy’s medical account. For more concerning blood donations, call LifeShare Blood Centers at 409-838-5289.

For additional information about the benefit barbecue or to get a signup sheet for large groups to donate blood, call Dr. Robert Finch at 409- 883-2232, extension 2700. You can also log onto the Little Cypress-Mauriceville website at http://www.lcmcisd.org and select the Missy Jones link.
