Lamar State College-Port Arthur will host free Fourth of July celebration Lamar State College-Port Arthur will host its 10th annual Independence Day celebration on Friday, July 4, featuring entertainment and a spectacular fireworks display over the Sabine-Neches Waterway.
The event, sponsored in conjunction with the City of Port Arthur,KBTV Channel 4 and the Motiva Expansion Project, begins at 7 p.m. with the Port Neches Veteran of Foreign Wars posting the U.S. and Texas flags inside the Carl Parker Multipurpose Center, 1800 Lakeshore Drive.
Other entertainment includes the Orange County Band, the DriftwoodQuartet, Dwight Wagner, Linda and Tom Neal, the Sweet Adelines, whistlerPhil Guidry, and a ladies vocal trio featuring Roxane Gray, Hillary Gray andKrista Courts.
Attendees also will enjoy a scene from "The Music Man," thissummer's combined musical, which will be presented later in the month byLamar State College-Port Arthur and The Port Arthur Little Theater.
"We invite everyone to bring their friends and family to thiswonderful celebration that shows what the Fourth of July really is allabout," said Neal, vice president for Student Services at the college, whowill emcee the event.
The fireworks display will begin around 9 p.m. near the ParkerCenter.
Parking is available around the Parker Center and the Lecture Hall.Additional parking is available across the street front of the PerformingArts Center.
Everyone is encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs, soft drinksand a picnic meal. Consumption of alcohol is not permitted on the LSC-PAcampus.
