My friends Tommie and Paul brought me this recipe from Stephanie Ashcraft of Colorado.
It is always good to get new recipes. I still have several who are going to send me one...one of these days. I could write another cook book if everyone that said they would send me a recipe did. Most of my readers want those recipes that people have used for years that were handed down through the years from kinfolk.
This recipe put a new wrinkle on my brain. It is an old recipe in a different angle.
German Chocolate is one of my favorite. When the boys were growing up they knew if the cake I was making was a German Chocolate that it would remain on top of the fridge an extra day before I would cut it.
I have not made this cake as of yet. You make it and tell me if it is good, or better still, bring me a slice.
• 1 German chocolate cake mix • 1 cup cocoanut • 1 cup chopped nuts • 1/2 cup chocolate chips • 1/4 cup butter or margarine • 8 ounces cream cheese softened • 1 box (1 pound) confectionery sugar.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix together cocoanut and nuts. Pour into a greased glass 9x13 inch pan. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the cocoanut and nuts. Mix cake mix according to directions on box and pour over bottom layer. In a separate bowl, beat together butter and cream cheese with an electric mixture. Slowly add in powdered sugar, mixing well. Pour over cake batter.
Bake 40-50 minutes. Sounds Gooder’n Syrup. Von
I want to add a hint to all who have the same eye problem I have. Finding things in the medicine cabinet or just small things in general, is difficult. I purchased some small plastic baskets and put different things in them. I have my combs and brushes and hair items in one, all of the little tubes of different things in another, and so on. I can pick up the square basket, hold it in one hand in front of my eyes while I dig with the other. When I have found what I need I just put the basket back onto the shelf. Sure works for me. Von
