Josephine Loiacano

Orange Josephine Loiacano, 90, of Orange, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, in Orange. Graveside Service will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16, at St. Mary Cemetery in Orange. Officiating will be Deacon Harvey Dubois, of St. Francis Church.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. - 1 p.m., Monday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Josephine, born on April 23, 1918, lived all her life in Orange and was a member of St. Mary Church. She has resided at Pinehurst Nursing and Rehab Center for the past fifteen years. During these senior years, Aunt Jo spent many happy hours with her nephew, Raymond, and her many friends, both residents and staff, at the nursing home, who she called family. Josephine’s roommate, since her late sister, “Cat”, died in 2001, has been Jo Ann Dugas. One of her best friends and dedicated caregivers was Martha Moreau.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Santo “Sam” and Biaggia (Patronella) Loiacano; her loving sister and care giver, Mary Gilbeaux and sister and life-long companion, Catherina “Cat” Loiacano.

She is survived by three nephews and their wives, Raymond and Jo Ann Gilbeaux, Jerry and Kathy Gilbeaux and Rickey and Susan Gilbeaux, all of Orange; and fourteen great-nieces and -nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Paige Gilbeaux, Troy Gilbeaux, Jerry Gilbeaux Jr., Chad Gilbeaux and Stephen Gilbeaux. Honorary pallbearers will be Jo Ann Dugas, great-nieces and great-nephews, and the wonderful staff and residents of Pinehurst Nursing and Rehab Center.
