Chamber names March, April students of the month

Bridge City’s Student of the Month for March is Bryce Rackley, son of James and Patricia Rackley. Bryce has a GPA of 4.59.

His awards and honors include the AP Biology 1 Award; Perfect Attendance Award, qualification to compete at the Texas Math and Science Coaches Association State Meet all four years in high school; numerous awards in UIL calculator, number sense, math and science; numerous first-place speaking events and Lincoln-Douglas awards and competing at the UIL Regional Meet in Lincoln-Douglas Debate.

Clubs and organizations include National Honor Society, Math / Science Club, and Debate Club. Community Service includes Hurricanes Ike and Rita cleanup.

Bryce plans to attend Florida Institute of Technology and major in Aerospace Engineering.

April’s student of the month for Bridge City is Dustin Breaux, who is the son of Don and Angie Breaux. He has a GPA of 3.89.

Awards and honors include National Honor Roll, All American Scholar, Rotary Youth Leadership, American Legion Boys State, L.E.A.P. English, Student of the Month, Ready Set Teach, Houston Livestock Show Art Exhibit, Regional Qualifier-Track & Field, Football- Team Captain, Basketball-Most Improved Award.

Clubs and organizations are Student Council Treasurer / Member, FCCLA, Art Club, FCA, Principal’s Cabinet, FTA, Go Green Club.

Community Service includes Hurricanes Ike and Rita community cleanup, St. Henry CYO and 58 hours of elementary tutoring.

 Orangefield’s student of the month for March is Kensey Duncan, daughter of Joan and Kenny Duncan. Her GPA is 3.95 (and a 4.40 weighted ranking scale).

Awards and honors include “Big O” Awards in 2006, ‘07 and ‘08; highest-ranking girl for the past four years, honor roll all four years in high school, FTA poem and yearbook winner in 2008.

Organizations and activities include honor society, Future Teachers of America, where she has been parliamentarian for three years, and at present is district corresponding secretary; secretary for Bobcats Against Drinking and Driving, president of the Library Club, Student Council treasurer, member of newspaper and yearbook staff, and Bobcat marching band where she was sergeant in her sophomore year, lieutenant in her junior year and band captain and section leader her senior year. She is also a solo, ensemble and ATSSA participant, and UIL competitor in social studies and editorial writing.

Volunteer Services include Relay for Life, Orange Christian Services, Lucas House Nursing Home, Cleaned house for cancer patient during summer of 2008, Human Society, Special Olympics, Red Cross blood drives, “Caroling for Cans,” Blue Santa volunteer, Life Skills Christmas Play volunteer and Toys for Tots. She worked at Moore’s Mini-Storage in 2008 and currently works for Kensey’s Yorkie Breeding.

Kensey plans to begin her college studies at Sam Houston State, and later transfer to Texas A&M where she will study pediatric oncology.

The April student of the month for Orangefield is Casey Clement, daughter of Jill and Dale Dougay. She has a GPA of 3.60 (and a 3.51 on our weighted ranking scale).

Clubs and organizations include Bobcats Against Drinking and Driving Club for four years, FFA for 2007-08 school year and a member of the Land Judging Team and was third in the Orange Livestock Show for the lamb she raised, and serves as secretary of Family Career and Community Leaders of America.

Community service includes cleaning houses and handing out food after Hurricane Ike, singing to the elderly in nursing homes and participating in the Blue Santa Toy Drive.

She has worked since March of her sophomore year. She has worked for the Sonic Drive Inns in Mauriceville and Orange, and also worked several months at Traditions Child Enrichment Center in Orange. Casey plans to attend Lamar University as a pre-med major.
