Three arrested during game room raid

After an investigation was conducted at the Spin and Win Game Room in Vidor, warrants were issued resulting in three arrests Tuesday.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office had received numerous complaints from the community concerning illegal gambling activities occurring at 3665 North Main St. in Vidor. Upon completion of the investigation there was enough evidence to obtain a search warrant for the location and arrest warrants for the owner and employees of the business.

At approximatley 11 a.m., Tuesday, officers seized 52 eight-liner machines, an undetermined amount of money, weapons and other items of evidence from the business.

Three suspects were arrested, Frank Joe Calamusa, a 40 year old Hayden, Ala. resident and owner of the business;  Melinda Hooks Eaves, a 56 year old Kountze resident and Pearl Mary Carter, a 51 year old Vidor resident. Both women were employees of the business. According to Det. Chad Hogan, all three were arrested for engaging in organized criminal activities, transported to the Orange County Jail and booked for the listed offenses. Bond has not been set at this time.

The investigation into 8-liner operations in Orange County is continuing and there may be other businesses targeted in the future.
