Bayou Bowl X between the Bridge City Cardinals and the Orangefield Bobcats will kick-off Friday night at 7:30 p.m. in Bridge City.
A friendly rivalry surrounds the Bayou Bowl that began in 2000. The first Bayou Bowl match-up was played in Bridge City. Bayou Bowl X returns the teams to Larry Ward Stadium for the critical Dist. 21-3A contest.
The Bridge City Chamber of Commerce kicked off the week’s festivities with the first Bayou Bowl Scholarship Banquet on Monday.
It began a week of Bayou Bowl activities that has become a tradition among high school football fans in the annual cross-community get-together. The finale comes on Friday, Oct 30, when the Bridge City-Orangefield Rotary Club awards the ‘Buzzie Gunn Trophy’ immediately following the game.
Bridge City and Orangefield Schools are collecting Pennies for Patients this week. Principal of the school raising the least amount of pennies has to wear a shirt in the opposing teams colors to the Bayou Bowl. “I won’t be wearing red,” said Orangefield Principal Shaun McAlpin, claiming Orangefield’s determination to win the competition.

• Bridge City A Red Ribbon Rally was held Tuesday. Wednesday – Wear Red Thursday – Wear White Friday – Wear Black “Lights out Bobcats”
• Orangefield Friday pep rallies: 1:40 p.m. at Elementary 2:40 at High School
