December is the month of cold weather and rain and for some a little snow. Also Christmas and eating pie, ham, turkey and dressing and leftovers.
I have a few idea’s for leftovers. Usually the biggest left over is dressing. You can just freeze it for one thing. Another is simmer some bell peppers, stuff them with dressing and add cheese on top. Bake until dressing is hot and cheese is melted.
If you have left over green beans, boil some new potatoes and add to the beans.
Mash potatoes make good patties to fry. Just add an egg and a little bit of flour, mix well and fry in a small bit of shortening.
If you have a large amount of cream potatoes left this cream potato bake is really good. • 3 cups cream potatoes • 8 ounces sour cream • 6 slices crisp fried bacon, crumbled • 3 green onions chopped • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese. Grease a 10x8x2 inch baking pan, spread in potatoes, top with sour cream. Sprinkle with crumbled bacon, add green onions. Top with cheese. Bake at 300 degrees for 30 minutes. That just about makes a meal in its self.
Now for a good spaghetti and any of your left over meat. Take all meat off the bone and cut into small pieces. Put into your favorite spaghetti sauce, store bought or homemade and simmer together until meat is soft. Whip up some spaghetti in seasoned water and you have a good meal. Slivers of garlic in your water makes a good seasoning for your water.
For homemade sauce you’ll need 1 pound of meat. No leftovers–just use 1 pound of ground meat.
• 1 pound of meat • 1 can mushroom soup • 1 can tomato sauce • 1 can tomato sauce • 1 teaspoon Tabasco sauce • 2 teaspoons chili powder • 1 medium onion • 1 clove garlic • 1 bell pepper • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce • 1 bay leaf • 1 can tomato juice • 1 can mushrooms
Brown the ground meat or just put chopped meat into heavy pan, add other ingredients and simmer for about one hour. I am sure that you have some good left over ideas. All of these are Gooder’n Syrup. Von
