BC Powerlifters three time Regional Champions

The Bridge City Lady Cardinals competed at the Region IV Championship in Palacies in March to become Regional Champions for the 3rd year in a row.

The Lady Cardinals are coached by Kevin Jones, who also was named Coach of the Year for the third time. 

Regional qualifiers included seniors–Valerie Brown, Taylor Daville, Alexa Richmond, Ricci Shoemaker; junior– Maddy Bray; sophomores–Gabrielle Brown, Whitney LeBlanc, Ashliegh Strahan, Nicole Threat; freshmen–Kayden Church and Shayra Stankus; alternates– Lari Navarro, Simone Dies and Bree Walker.

The Lady Cards won a number of awards: Division II Region IV 3A Champions, but also the overall award being the best team from 1A to 5A classification with 30 points.

Placing at Regionals were Valerie Brown– 1st place; Taylor Daville– 1st place; Alexa Richmond 3rd place. Sophomores, Whitney LeBlanc– 1st place; Ashleigh Strahan – 5th place, Gabrielle Brown– 10th place. Freshman Kayden Church– 2nd place. Kayden also set a new Region IV bench record with a 145 lb. bench press.

Senior Valerie Brown rounded this year out with a three time Regional Championship, set the new squat record with a 450 lb. squat. She also received merit awards for outstanding squat and outstanding deadlift.

The Lady Cardinals move on to state in Corpus Christi, Saturday, March 20. State qualifiers are seniors– Valerie Brown, Taylor Daville, Aleza Richmond; sophomores, Whitney Leblanc, Ashleigh Strahan and freshman Kayden Church.
