Bridge City went 4-0 and Orangefield posted a 2-2 record in the Cardinal Athlectic Booster Club tournament. Bridge City made quick work of the Liberty Panthers beating them 11-1 in their first game. Zach Smith and Colby Carpenter handled the pitching duties.

Smith pitched four of the five innings giving up three hits, one walk, striking out one and hitting two batters, while allowing only one run. Carpenter came in to close the game striking out two of the three batters he faced. The highlight of the game was a two run blast of the bat of Forrest Zoch and a diving catch from first baseman Dylan Mulhollan. Matt Menard, Cameron Dishon and Smith added singles to the game with Menard recording two RBI’s and Smith one RBI.

Bridge City was schedule to play a double header but the fog rolled in.

You could not see a thing, so the game against Kelly had to be rescheduled.

Bridge City beat Cameron Yoe 5-2, behind the pitching of Zoch.

He gave up six hits, hit one batter, walked four while striking out six.  Zoch also picked two people off.

Hayden Guidry faced the last batter of the game striking him out.

Joe Robertson scored two of the Cardinals runs.

Robertson collected one single, walked, was hit by a pitch twice, and stole two bases, for a perfect day at the plate.

Matt Hicks hit an RBI double and Menard had a run scoring sac fly in the contest.

Mitchel Hubbard and Mulhollan contributed with RBI hits, Hubbard a double and Mulhollan a single.

No fog this time and the game was played, against the Kelly Bulldogs. Hubbard took the win with some help from Hayden Guidry. The Cardinals jumped out quick to a nine run first inning. Hicks was a big part of the inning collecting two hits, a single and a grand slam. He also had another single in the third, to make it a five RBI game. Robertson and Luke Rhodes had singles in the game and Menard added two RBI’s to his collection with two singles. Evan Boren and Smith contributed with single of their own. The Cardinals won the game 14-8.

Bridge City ended their tournament play by beating Lumberton 10-2 behind the pitching of ace Hicks. He gave up five hits, one walk, hit one batter and struck out six. Hicks also helped himself with a two run homerun. Guidry pitched the last inning striking out one in a three up, three down inning. Robertson had a two RBI singles and Rhodes had a two for three game with two singles. Menard had three RBI’s with a double and a solo homerun.

Hubbard had two doubles both recording RBIs. Josh Lemoine added to the scoring with his RBI single. The Cardinals were scheduled to play Westlake Tuesday 16th, and will finish with Baytown Christian Tuesday 23rd, before they start district play.

Orangefield jumped all over Liberty in their first game of the CABC tournament beating them 22-2. Brock Whitson pitched the first four innings and Josh Watson came in to pitch the fifth.

Whitson gave up five hits, struck out six batters, and walked none while allowing two runs to score.

Watson closed the game with a three up and three down inning, striking out one along with two fly outs to left. The Bobcats belted thirteen hits, with three of them homeruns.

Two three run bombs were hit by Quinton Evans and one two run bomb of the bat of Chase Angelle.

Jace Statum had two hits, a single and a double.

Jonathan DeRamus had a two run scoring double, while Jacob Felts had a perfect day at the plate going two for two, with a single and a double to go along with two walks and a hit by a pitch.

He added two RBI’s to his total for the year.

Angelle’s day was perfect also with a sac fly, a walk, a hit by a pitch and the two run homerun.

Corey Huckabay had a single in the contest and Josh Watson had a double and a single.

Derrick Evans had two singles with both recording RBI’s.

After a small break, Orangefield went to work on Kelly beating them 10-0 in six innings. Quinton Evans did the pitching, giving up five hits, while striking out two, allowing one walk. He hit one batter and allowed no runs. The Bobcats keep their hot bats belting ten hits and another three run homer from Angelle. Statum had two singles in the contest adding three RBI’s, ending the game with his last hit. DeRamus had a single and Felts had two hits, a double and a single with two RBI’s. Huckabay had a perfect game at the plate with three singles and a sac bunt. Derrick Evans recorded a single in the contest also.

Orangefield dropped a tough one to Cameron Yoe 7-3 and lost to Lumberton 15-7 but Quinton Evans added another homer to his collection. The Bobcats were scheduled to play Kirbyville Tuesday and schedule take on Tarkington, Deweyville and Buna to finish up their pre-district season.

West Orange-Stark went 4-0 in route to winning the Kirbyville tournament.

Justin Sparrow and Jordan Darnall were named to the All-Tournament team and Taylor Turley took home the MVP hardware.

Darnall pitched three no hit innings to start the Kirbyville tournament off.

Darnall hit one batter, had one walk, with three strikeouts on his way to a 15-0 win against Deweyville.

Sparrow pitched the last inning for the Mustangs, giving up one hit but keeping the goose egg on the score board.

WOS’s offense scored in every inning.

With two outs in the first Darnall reached on a walk, Turley on an error and Jacoy Finney plated them both with a single.

Zane Anderson hit Finney in with a single but was thrown out trying to stretch it to a double.

The big inning came in the second, Zach Drouillard was hit by a pitch, Darius Mitchell walked and Sparrow hit an RBI double.

Darnall and Turley both had singles, with Darnall’s collecting an RBI. Finney and Anderson walked, Drouillard and Mitchell both hit singles, recording RBI’s.

The Mustangs put a seven mark on the scoreboard in the second inning.

In the third, Sparrow had his second hit of the game, a single.

Darnall walked and Turley plated them both with his second hit of the game, a double.

The last inning Van Jordan drew a walk, Mitchell had his second hit, a single.

Sparrow was hit by a pitch and Luke Domas recorded an RBI with a walk.

Darnall kept his perfect day at the plate with an RBI single and Turley recorded his third hit of the game, an RBI single.

Later in the day West Orange-Stark took down the host team Kirbyville 6-4.

Darnall hit a walk off two run homer to put the Stangs in the finals, where they beat Hamshire-Fannett 7-6.

The Mustangs faced the Longhorns again in the finals and Sparrow pitched a nice complete game.

Sparrow gave up five hits, walked two batters, while striking out five on his way to a 7-1 championship win.

Sparrow helped himself out at the plate also, by getting hit by a pitch twice, collecting an RBI single and scoring two runs.

Clayton Gearhart had two singles in the game and also scored two runs.

Turley had two RBI’s in the contest, one from being hit by a pitch, and one a double.

Finney hit a sac fly scoring a run and Zane Anderson had a perfect day at the plate, a single, a double, and a walk.

His single recorded an RBI. Jake Klinkhammer added a single late in the contest and Josian Phares added another RBI with a sac fly.

WOS has two more pre-district games left against Kirbyville and Sulphur.

Little Cypress-Mauriceville played well in the New Caney tournament, posting a 3-1 record. LCM lost to Kingwood Park 4-3, but beat Northeast Christian 3-0, Huntsville 11-4 and New Caney 8-4. The Bears were schedule to start district play on Mach 16 against PNG, and will travel to Beaumont to play Central March 19.

Vidor had a good showing in the Jasper Tournament going 4-0. The Pirates beat Buna 8-7, Silsbee 18-2, Jasper 13-1 and Hemphill 20-3. Vidor was scheduled to start district play against Central Tuesday and will take on Lumberton March 19.
