Joey "Terry" Ortego, 51, of San Antonio was born in Grand Forks, ND., on Dec. 2, 1959. Terry died at Audie L. Murphy Veterans Hospital in San Antonio on Saturday, Dec. 11.
He grew up in Vidor, attended Vidor schools from 1967 to 1977. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1977 to 1980 until his military disability.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 17, at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 16, at Memorial Funeral Home.
Terry was preceded in death by his father Joseph C. Ortego U.S. Air Force and mother Virgie Mae Ortego, sister Carla Jo Mefford.
He is survived by his brother David R. Ortego of Vidor, sisters Deborah G. Jefferson of Nederland, Michelle Marshall of Bridge City, Lisa Hoagland of Mexico, MO., and Rene Johnson of Harlem, GA., and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephew.
