Alex Gilson earned Eagle Scout

Orangefield High School junior, Alex Gilson, recently earned the rank of Eagle Scout. This is the highest possible rank in the Boy Scouts of America. Gilson has been involved with the scouts for many years. His brother was involved with the scouts and encouraged him to participate.

To become an Eagle Scout, a scout must have a rank advancement and do an extensive service project. Gilson’s project involved installing a drainage pipe to prevent flooding that has been occurring for years at a local church.

“I am seen as a leader, and I am now held to a higher standard,” said Gilson. He is a member of Troop 125 and will continue his work with the scouts, participating in campouts and service projects.
