New lanes signal growth in Bridge City

Bridge City is not only getting a new elementary school but also getting some cosmetic changes to Roundbunch Rd.

According to Mark Sheppard with the Texas Department of Transportation out of Beaumont, construction has begun to had a new signal and right turn lane to help with traffic that is anticipated with this new school.

The signals are up, they are not operational yet. Unfortunately, construction will take a bit longer due to the weather this time of year. The seal coat and the stripes can only be added when the weather is warm.

Sheppard also said that the citizens of BC probably won’t see any work take place for some time, but when it warms up, the process will be a quick on. He anticipates that construction will be complete by the end of the school year.

The new elementary school will be a combination of Sims and Hatton will be open for use next school year.
