Joey Martin

Joey Martin, 49, of Orange, died Saturday, March 5, at Renaissance Hospital in Groves.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 10, at First Baptist Church in Mauriceville. Officiating will be the Rev. Wesley Blanton, the Rev. Lyndon Longoria, and the Rev. Kevin Brown. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City. Visitation will be from 5:00-9:00 p.m., Wednesday at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Groves, on Feb. 7, 1962, Joey was the son of Patsie Ruth Martin and Joe Ernest Martin, Sr. He was a very compassionate person who enjoyed helping people and loved everyone. Joey was a substitute teacher for the Little Cypress School District and recently completed his Bachelor’s Degree, and was working on his teacher certification. He traveled for 32 years with his family, “The Martin Family” music ministry, and he never ceased to amaze.

Joey is survived by his wife of 23 years, Lisa Martin; parents, Joe Daddy and Mama Pat Martin; daughters, Sarah Elizabeth Martin and Hope Lynae Martin, both of Mauriceville; and sister, Patricia Williams.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Ted Houston, Richard Beasley, Ben Meadows, John Jackson, Kent Newell, Rick Carrell, Joe Clements, and Buddy Nusom. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brent Groff and Robin Derouen.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church Mauriceville Building Fund, 11540 Hwy 12, Mauriceville, TX 77632.
