Mrs. Jackie Bickham, age 91 , of Crockett, passed away Friday, May 20. in the M D Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
She was born March 21, 1930 in Collins, Mississippi and had been living in Crockett since 1970. Mrs. Bickham received her Bachelor’s degree from Mississippi Southern University and Master’s degree from Sam Houston State University. She was a teacher having taught in Vidor, Mauriceville, Tomball, Centerville, Navasota, Grapeland, Crockett and retired from Lovelady I. S. D. Mrs. Bickham really enjoyed teaching special needs children and was a member of the Shady Grove First Baptist Church.
Survivors include husband, John Bickham of Crockett; sons, John Calvin Bickham III of Crockett, Mark Gawain Bickham and wife, Catherine of Livingston; daughter, Debra Colleen Bickham Burgin and husband, John of Starks; grandchildren, Anthony Bickham of Tyler, Amy Bickham Offutt and husband, Brandon of Austin and Jerrod Cole Bickham of Livingston; sisters, Rhoda Ann Cole Yawn of Danville Arkansas, Jon Doris Cole Alley and husband, Jack of Burnsville, North Carolina; brother, Carl Herman Cole and wife, Elaine of Collins, Mississippi; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceded in death by parents, Jessie Robert Cole and Dilla Elizabeth Rawls Cole; sisters and brothers, Lena Cole Allen, S. D. Cole, Cordie Cole D’Amico, Edna Earl Cole Boyce and Hulon Cole.
Funeral services for Mrs. Jackie Bickham will be held Monday, May 23, at 10:00 a.m. in the Shady Grove First Baptist Church with the Rev. Lowery officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Deweyville Cemetery. Family will receive friends Sunday evening 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 212 Gene Samford Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75904.
