UPDATE: Woman dies in early morning accident

The woman killed in this morning’s accident on IH-10, near Rose City, has been identified as 24 year old Ashley Nicole Hollyfield, of Fred.

Hollyfield was driving a 2011 Honda passenger vehicle westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-10 at about 3:45 a.m. Wednesday when she ran into the back of an 18 wheeler.

According to a witness, Hollyfield had driven all the way from Orange to Rose City in the opposite lane.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was Stephen Muse, 66, of Austin. He was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital, with minor injuries.

According to the Texas DPS, a woman who was driving the wrong way on IH-10, and struck a tractor trailer rig, has died. The woman was traveling west bound in the east bound lane near Rose City when the accident occurred.

The east bound lanes were closed for some time after the 3:45 am accident, but have been reopened.

Fuel from the tanker spilled onto the highway, but crews have cleaned the spill up.

Neither accident victim's name has been released, and the condition of the truck driver is unknown at this time.
