Starlight COGIC Music Department to host workshop
The Starlight COGIC Music Department invites the community to join them for “The N.E.W. Experience Choir Workshop 2011.” The theme is “We Need Your Glory.” Starlight is inviting all Ministers, Choir Directors, choir members, song leaders, soloist, choir presidents, staff members and musicians to be a part of this great Music Conference.
The Workshop will be held Aug. 25 and 26 at 7 p.m. and Aug. 27 at 9 a.m. is “The Anointing” Training Workshop. The Grand Musical Extravaganza will be August 27 at 6:30 p.m. featuring Evangelist Sandra Walker and The N.E.W. Experience Workshop Choir, Psalmist Elder Manuel Bell, Renata Rawlins, Bernita Bias and the City Wide Choir, Durward Minor II, Minister Jarod Phillips and VOP, Created for Purpose, and 4SOUL.

Calvary Christian Center to host revival Sept. 11
The Calvary Christian Center, located at 3720 Pheasant in Pinehurst, will host a revival Sept. 11 - 14 at 7 p.m. each evening. The community is invited to attended an enjoy Gospel music with Amy Pickard, Randy White and others. The Missionary/Evangelist will be W. Earl Brown.
Christian Women’s Job Corp to host orientation Sept. 1
Christian Women’s Job Corp of Orange will host an orientation starting Thursday, Sept 1, 2011 at 10 a.m. at the Family Worship Center, 2300 41st Street, Room 37.

Community Church to host ‘Choose the Life’
Community Church will host Choose the Life, a conference offering relevant teaching on discipleship and practical pathways to the life God intended his children to live. The conference will be Sept. 17 at Community Church, 3400 MLK, Orange, 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Early registration ends Sept. 12. Registration includes breakfast, lunch and written materials. First United Methodist to host Wednesday Night Live classes
The community is invited to participate in First United Methodist Church’s Wednesday Night Live classes. Fall classes will begin on Sept. 14 and run through Nov. 16. A light supper will be served at 5 p.m. with classes beginning at 6 p.m.
Programs for the fall include: Prayer Shawl Ministry, “Why?” by Adam Hamilton, “Confronting Controversies” by Adam Hamilton, Beth Moore’s study of Revelation “Here and Now, There and Then,” Dr. Dobson’s “Bringing Up Girls,”and “Disciple III Bible Study.”
Youth will view and discuss “Soul Surfer.” Kindergarten through fifth graders will be participating in “Way to Go “A Guided Tour Through God’s Greatest Commandment.”
A nursery is provided for infants through preschoolers.
FUMC is located at 502 North Sixth Street; the meal is served in the Praise Center located on the corner of Pine and Fifth streets.

North Orange Baptist Church to host 9/11 remembrance service
North Orange Baptist Church, located at 4775 N. 16th in Orange, invites you to join us for a community-wide 9/11 Remembrance Service Sunday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m.
“Remembering the tragedy, the loss, the sacrifice,and celebrating the privilege to preserve, protect and enjoy the freedom we have as Americans.”

First United Methodist to host MOPS meeting Aug. 26
Mothers of Preschoolers ages birth through Kindergarten will meet from 9:30 a.m. to noon, Thursday Aug. 26 at First United Methodist Church Orange, 502 N. 6th St., and the fourth Thursday of each month thereafter. “Moppetts” will provide care for the children while moms have adult time during meetings. Cowboy Church to host last Buckle Series Play Days
The community is invited to join the Cowboy Church of Orange County for their last Buckle Series Playdays of 2011, a The playdays are Aug. 27, Sept. 24 and Oct. 29. Events include barrels, poles, flag race, baton race and speed race. Buckles will be awarded for overall high point for each age group. Special classes are lead line, mutton bustin’ and stick horse race with special awards also given at end of series. Western attire required; hat, sleeved shirt, jeans and boots.
