Several Orange business struck by copper thieves

Several Orange businesses located in the 800 block of Dal Sasso Dr. had air conditioning units destroyed and the copper stolen from them.

Officer Michael Roush with the Orange Police Dept. responded to Sun Loans at about 10:54 am Tuesday in reference to the robberies.

Upon arrival, Officer Roush made contact with an employee of Sun Loans, who advised that when she went outside to smoke, she noticed that the building’s A/C units were missing.

While gathering information, an employee with Dal Sasso Realty, arrived on the scene. Dal Sasso Realty owns the building, and the four missing A/C units.

The Dal Sasso employee did not know the make, models or cost of the units, but advised that he could check the company records and get the information.

Police checked the back of the building and observed the outer casing of the units to be removed and the copper wiring cut and removed. Police observed the wiring to be pinched together in the middle and appeared to have been cut with bold cutters.

The Dal Sasso employee asked for a police report and stated that if a suspect is located, Dal Sasso would file charges.

The businesses affected by the robbery were Sun Loans, Shay Elizabeth Resale Boutique, The Grapevine and State Farm - Mike Lowe.
