Madgie DeLoach, was the fifth child born to the late Sam and Essielean Turner Hobdy. She accepted Christ at an early age at Union Hill Baptist Church, in Calvin, LA. Sis. DeLoach graduated from Pinecrest High School in Winnfield, LA.
She attended Vocation School and received a certificate as a Cosmetologist while living in Louisiana.
On Nov. 1, 1958, she was united in marriage to James Berry DeLoach. To this union three children were born. Jacqueline Rachal (Joey), James Berry DeLoach, Jr. (Linda) and Veronica Una DeLoach (deceased).
In 1966, the family moved from Winnfield to Orange. She attended Lamar University and received certification as a Medication Aide. Madgie was employed at Jones Nursing Home for over 35 years.
After moving to Orange she and her family joined New Starlight Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member. Later she moved her membership to Rising Star Baptist Church where she remained until her death. She has worked in her church, serving as an usher, deaconess, pastor’s aide, and many other positions throughout her life.
Loving memories will be cherished by her family and friends; husband, James DeLoach, Sr.; three children: James DeLoach, Jr. (Linda), Kenosha, Wisconsin, Jacqueline Rachal (Joey), of Orange.
She was preceded in death by Brothers: Lutcher Ray Hobdy, Sam Hobdy, Jr. and Floyd Lee Hobdy and one sister Myrtle Ruth Turner.
She has one sister, Margaret Ann Hollingsworth (Perry), Winnfield, LA. She has three grandchildren that were the joy of her life: Victoria Evon Rachal, Orange, James Berry DeLoach, III and Robert DeLoach of Kenosha, Wisconsin. She leaves a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held at Salem United Methodist Church from 4:45 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 22. Funeral services will begin at 6:00 p.m. after the visitation.
