Nelda Joan Erickson-Borel

Nelda Joan Erickson-Borel, 66, of Orangefield, passed away on Monday, Jan. 9, at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.

She was born on April 7, 1945 in Moreland, Missouri to Carmen Hatcher and Frank Bishop.

She lived in Houston, for 20 years where she worked for the City of Houston and was a realtor/broker in the Houston area. Nelda lived in Orangefield, for the past 29 years where she was the owner of JoJo’s Restaurant, DG’s Grocery and Classic Cuts in Orangefield.

She was baptized at Tomball Church of Christ and current member of Orangefield Church of Christ. Nelda was passionate about cooking and she loved to crochet and loved fishing.

Visitation will be on Friday, Jan. 13, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves.

Funeral Service will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, Jan. 14, in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carmen Hatcher Myers and Frank Bishop, her brother, Bill Bishop and her husband, John Erickson.

She is survived by her husband of 19 years, Leo “Put” Borel of Orangefield, two sons, John Erickson and wife Hollie, Gregory Erickson and wife Stephanie both of Kingwood, grandchildren, Jordan Erickson, Nicholas Erickson, Ian Erickson, Trenton Erickson and Kadyn Erickson.
