Fatality in motorcycle, SUV collision

UPDATE: Nevil Meghani, 26, of Vinton, La., lost control of his motorcycle

Tuesday night and collided with a Chevy Tahoe belonging to Raymond Butler, of

Orange. Meghani was transported to Baptist Hospital in Orange where he was

pronounced dead.

Butler and the other passenger in the Tahoe were not injured.

Shortly before 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night a motorcycle slid underneath a Tahoe SUV on Texas 62 just south of the Farm Road 105 intersection. Department of Public Safety Trooper Tracy Shipley said there were two people in the Tahoe and one person on the motorcycle.

Earlier reports of the motorcyclist's death have been confirmed. An unnamed witness to the accident said the cyclist was not wearing a helmet. His name has been withheld until next of kin can be notified. The accident is under investigation.

The male driving the SUV and female passenger were unharmed.
