John H. Fowler, 69, of Vidor died Sunday, April 1, in Broaddus, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4, at Turning Point Church in Vidor under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 3, at Memorial Funeral Home.

Born on Nov. 30, 1942 and a native of Bessie Mae, Texas, he was a lifelong resident of Vidor, and graduated from Orangefield High School. He was an active 46 year member and current worshipful master of Pine Forest Masonic Lodge # 1420.

He was also a member of El Mina Shriner’s and Cashan Grotto. He was a retired conductor with Southern Pacific Railroad after 30 years of service. He also served his country in the United States Army as a medic.

John is survived by his wife of 40 years Pamela Leatherwood Fowler, daughter Carrie Fowler Baer and husband John, son John Edward Fowler and wife Erinn all of Vidor; brother Butch Snider of Nederland, sisters Bobbye Risby of Midlothian, Texas, Lydia Ann Littrell, and Francis Connor both of Vidor; five grandchildren: Alysia E. West, Jessie E. Fowler, Shawn Simmons, Ramee A. Fowler and Makayla Sirmons all of Vidor; and a host of friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made “In Memory of John H. Fowler” to The Shriner’s Hospital.
