Accident on FM 1442 still under investigation

A wreck involving four vehicles has left an Orange woman in the hospital with critical injuries.

At about 9 p.m. Tuesday, a wreck occurred on FM 1442 near the entrance to St. Paul United Methodist Church. A white Dodge pickup truck driven by a 37-year-old Vidor man was traveling north on FM 1442 when it struck the back of gray Honda driven by a 20-year-old Orange County woman with her 1-year-old son as a passenger.

The force of the impact caused the Honda to go into the path of oncoming traffic and struck a red Honda SUV driven by a 74-year-old Orange woman. Both vehicles received heavy damages.

The pickup truck continued north about a mile down the road when it struck a black Toyota. It then hit a privacy fence and the corner of house at the intersection of FM 1442 and Lafitte Street before finally coming to a stop.

At both wreck scenes, debris littered the roadway. There were parts to the vehicles, stuffed animals and personal belongings among the shards of glass.

The 74-year-old woman received life threatening injuries and was flown by helicopter to St. Elizabeth hospital where she remains in stable condition. The remaining victims were treated at area hospitals.
