Hometown News For Orange County, Texas
The W.H. Stark house welcomes the autumn season and invites the public to see seasonal decorations throughout the first-floor of the house. The Thanksgiving Dining Room exhibit will be on display through Thursday, Nov. 29. Guided tours are available on Tuesday through Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
During a tour, visitors will see the rooms of the house adorned for Thanksgiving, including original china, silver and crystal in the dining room. The dinner setting items showcase a family dinner for eight guests, and the dining room features the newly reupholstered dining chairs. These chairs have spent two years with a conservator to be painstakingly recovered and are a beautiful compliment to the original fabric pattern and style.
In this year's exhibit, visitors will have the opportunity to see Coalport Indian tree pattern china, Gorham flatware and a panel pattern stemware at each place setting. Also on exhibit is a set of original damask linens, including a tablecloth with matching napkins circa 1920. For this festive occasion, a faux turkey and floral centerpiece complete the display.
"This wonderful collection is on display in honor of the Thanksgiving holiday. We invite everyone to take time to tour The Stark House to see these pieces as they enjoy time with friends and family," says Patsy L. Herrington, Director of The W.H. Stark House.
Located at 610 West Main Avenue in Orange, The W.H. Stark house is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., with the last tour beginning at 3:30 p.m. For more information, or to schedule a tour, call 883-0871, or visit www.whstarkhouse.org.
