Gene Capps, 68, of Bridge City passed away Monday, Nov. 12, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. A memorial Service will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at Winfree Baptist Church in Orange. Officiating will be the Rev. Keith Royal and eulogies will be given by Aaron Capps, Tony Meche and Bobby Tisdale.
The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 p.m. Friday, at the church. Born in Lufkin on Aug. 2, 1944, Gene was the son of Hayden L. and Nelda Faye (Lowery) Capps. He was a member of Winfree Baptist Church and loved the Lord. Gene was well known for his love of hunting, fishing, gardening and carpentry. He was a wonderful husband and a terrific dad that loved spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Nelda Capps; and son, Hayden Gene Capps, Jr.
Gene is survived by his wife, Beverly Capps; father, Hayden Louie Capps; sons; Jeff Capps, Aaron D. Capps; two grandchildren, Gracie and Landon Capps; brother, Dean Capps; and sister, Sherry Heimbach.
Cremation will be under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
