B.B. (Bittie) Askew, 98, of Vidor, passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, in Port Arthur. He was born Jan. 13, 1915 in Center to Buford B. Askew Sr. and Lola Hagler Askew. Mr. Askew served in the Civil Service at Pearl Harbor during WWII. He later retired from Texaco in Port Arthur. Mr. Askew was of the Church of Christ faith.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., Monday, Jan. 21, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Monday, Jan. 21, 2013 at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center with Bro. Gordon Vaughn officiating.
He is survived by sons, Jerry Askew of Fannett, Jack Askew and wife Betty of Vidor; daughter, Mary Beth Harris of Nederland; brother, Vernon Askew of Nederland; sisters, Myrline Bradshaw of Center, Edna Hardy of Henderson; seven grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild. Also surviving are, stepchildren, Jan Fortune, Becky Devillier and Spud Devillier.
The family of Mr. Agnew thanks everyone at Cypress Glenn Nursing Home for caring for our Dad for the last two years. Also a special thanks to Kelly and the staff of New Century Hospice.
