Sandra “Sandye” Sue Vandervoort, 68, of Orange, passed away Tuesday, May 21, at her residence. Memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 24, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange, with Father Jim Sichko officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m., prior to the service.
Born at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio on Ja. 23, 1945, Sandye was the daughter of Paul and Thelma (Plaisance) Smith. She was a teacher at West Orange-Stark schools. Sandye was a member of the Altar Guild at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and the Women’s Golf Association. She also volunteered at the Shangri La Greenhouse in Orange.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jerry Walton Smith.
Sandye is survived by her husband, Paul “Van” Vandervoort, III of Orange; daughters and sons-in-law, Julie and Stephen Price of Houston, Marcy and J.J. Weibe of Lufkin; and daughter-in-law and son, Mindi and Jerry Vandervoort of Orange.
She is also survived by Gram’s six-pack, Brady Price, Ace Vandervoort, Jacob Weibe, Mason Price, Jackson Weibe and Brock Vandervoort.
Sandye loved to travel and “cruise” with Van. and never met a stranger. She also enjoyed fun in the sun with her family and friends by the pool and at the beach.
