Lamar opens new academic year with convocation Monday, Aug. 19

Lamar University will open the 2013-2014 academic year with a reception and convocation for faculty and staff Monday, Aug. 19. Classes for the fall semester begin Aug. 26.

Lamar President Kenneth Evans will address faculty and staff, outlining goals and plans for the 2013-2014 academic year in his annual “state-of-the-university” speech.

New faculty and staff members will be introduced during the ceremony.

Faculty and staff will gather at 9:30 a.m. in the Studio Theatre for an opening reception. The fall convocation begins at 10 a.m. in the University Theatre.
