Leroy Daniels Sr., 81, of Orange passed away Monday, Aug. 26, at Mid Jefferson Hospital in Nederland.
Leroy was born on Oct. 31, 1931 in Merryville, La., to Dottie (Coward) and Felix Daniels. He had lived most of his life in Orange. Leroy served his country during the Korean Conflict in the Army. He was a shipbuilder at Levingston Shipyard in Orange for 28 years. with his last years being with overseas companies, and retiring in 1985. He enjoyed horse racing, playing pool and loved spending time with his family.
Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Felix Daniels; daughter, Diane Lerae Daniels.
He is survived by his daughters, Rhonda Shaffer and husband, Kence of Sour Lake, Cheryl Bowie and husband, Ed of Lafayette, Valerie Loewer and husband, John of Lumberton; sons, Leroy “Bo” Daniels Jr. and wife, Cheri of Dallas, Danny Daniels and wife, Elaine of Hemphill, Kevin Daniels and wife, Susan of Orange; sister, Joyce D. Kelley of Orange; brother, Jack Daniels and wife, Shirley of Vidor; grandchildren, Christopher Daniels, Shellie Daniels, Jordan Daniels, Allen Daniels, Kristin Daniels, Duane Daniels, Katy Jo Shaffer, Kacy Jean Shaffer, Eric Loewer and Jonathan Loewer.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, Aug. 28, from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Dorman Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Thursday, Aug. 29, at 10:00 am at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jimmy Ponton officiating. Burial will follow at Autumn Oaks Memorial Park in Orange.
Honoring Leroy as pallbearers are Eric Loewer, Duane Daniels, Dustin Tilley, Ray Tilley, Mack Reeves and Jody Kelley.
