The Bridge City Chamber of Commerce announced the Students of the Month for December at their monthly networking coffee held at the Bridge City ISD Administration Building located at 1031 West Roundbunch in Bridge City. Bridge City chose Anna Piper as their Student of the Month and Gage Counts was chosen by Orangefield.
Anna Piper is ranked 10th out of her class of 186 students with a 4.49 GPA on a weighted 4.0 scale and is the daughter of Paul and Laura Piper. She is a member of the National Honor Society, UIL General Math & Spelling, One-Act Play, Academic Team, Spanish Club, Chess Club and has lettered two years on the Swim Team. Anna has received awards as an AP Scholar, Honor Roll, Spanish 3, Math and Business Information Management. Her community service includes volunteering at the Soup Kitchen, Church Youth Group, and the Food Bank.
Teachers state “Anna is an excellent, hard-working student with a great attitude that makes everyone around her smile.” She is an intelligent polite young lady who does exceptional work with great ease and a great work ethic. Her integrity and positive attitude help make her a successful student and role model. A special young lady who is a pleasure to have in the classroom and also has a bright future.
Anna plans to pursue a degree in communications at the University of Texas and hopes to get a job working at a magazine.
Gage is ranked 21st out of his class of 127 students with a 4.13 GPA on the OHS scale and is the son of Michelle and Bobby Counts. He is Vice President of Student
Council, Vice President of Robot Club, a Student Council Member and Library Club Member, involved with Interact, the National Honor Society and TAFE – Texas Associations of Future Educators. Gage has received awards for Perfect Attendance, the Big-O Award, lettered in UIL, UIL Academic Invitational at PNG HS and District Meet at Hampshire-Fannett finishing in 6th place in 2011 and commended performance on Math, Social Studies, Science and English TAKS Test. His community service includes Christmas Caroling to church shut-ins, volunteering at the Wellness Center, Vacation Bible School, St. Mary’s Soup Kitchen and Wilderness Trail Maintenance.
Teachers commented that Gage is “extremely committed to everything he does going above and beyond to help his peers. A great leader in Debate!” He sets high standards and is an impressive young man with a brilliant mind, upbeat and engaging. He is a thinker who applies himself to helping solve the problems of our nation and our world. A potential world changer, one problem at a time.
Gage plans to major in Electrical Engineering with a focus in computers at UT-Austin. He also has plans to work for Lenovo and be a Political Activist.
Both Anna and Gage received a plaque, sponsored by David Self Ford honoring them for their accomplishments along with gift certificates from The Classy Peacock, Tiger Rock Martial Arts of Bridge City, Sabine Federal Credit Union, Central Office Supply, David Self Ford, Geaux Mail, Complete Staffing and Michele Michelle Day Spa.
