Ruth Alice Woodward, 94, of Orange passed away Sunday, Jan. 5, at The Meadows.
A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, Jan. 10, at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery at 2312 Irving St. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time at Claybar Funeral Home before traveling in procession to the graveside service.
Born in Plainfield, NJ on June 22, 1919, Ruth was raised on the Jersey Shore by her parents, William John and Alice Wilson (Hall) Lidgate. She was the office manager for Dr. George L. Eastman, Jr. for over 30 years, was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star. Later, she discovered her passion for traveling and discovering new places as well as a love for arts and crafts, especially painting and needlepoint. She was inquisitive, smart, and the leader of her family through quiet determination and unconditional love.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William John and Alice Wilson (Hall) Lidgate; first husband, Adrian Lincoln Parker and second husband, Charles Arthur Woodward.
Ruth is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Phillip Perry of Orange and Bette Ruth and Mike Turner of Dallas; grandchildren, Mike Perry, Matt Perry, Shea Perry Brown and husband, Bubba, Amy Turner McCracken and husband, John and Krissy Turner and seven great grandchildren.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to American Macular Degeneration Foundation, PO Box 515, Northampton, MA 01061-0515 or to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1893, Memphis, TN 38101-9950.
