UPDATE - Cow Bayou Bridge re-opens after spill

UPDATE: As of approximately 8:15, both lanes of the Cow Bayou Bridge has reopened to traffic.

DPS is assisting BCPD with traffic at Cow Bayou bridge. There was not a wreck; a barrel of hydrochloric acid fell off of a truck, and both lanes are closed. Hazmat crews are en route and there is no definite time frame on when the roadway will reopen. Bridge CIty police department is in charge of the scene.

Bridge City police report that Cow Bayou bridge in Bridge City is shut down southbound and northbound lanes due to a spilled 55 gallon drum of hydrochloric acid. BCPD are on scene and will keep the public posted.
