Chase Shugart signs with UT Longorns

Bridge City Cardinal pitching sensation Chase Shugart will soon be on the mound for the University of Texas Longhorns. Shugart signed with the UT Longhorns on Wednesday during ceremonies held at the Bridge City High School cafeteria. Among his many honors and awards Shugart was named The Record's 2014 All-Orange County Pitcher of the Year as a junior last season. He also was named to the 2014 All-State Baseball Team and Most Valuable Player in Dist. 21-3A. The Bridge City High School senior will begin his fourth year on the mound for 'Big Red' this spring when baseball season returns. Shugart is also a BCHS student council member.
