One hospitalized after shooting at hotel

Police are investigating a shooting at a hotel at about 1:30 am at the Best Texan Inn on IH-10 in Orange.

According to police, an officer with the Orange Police Department responded to the hotel after a dispatcher for a report of a suspicious vehicle. While en route, the officer learned from dispatch that the vehicle was driven by a detective with the Vidor Police Department. The officers met at the hotel.

The Vidor officer said he went to the hotel after a woman told his department that a shooting took place there. The woman who reported the shooting said that the victim was her boyfriend and he had already been taken to a hospital in Beaumont.

Both officers found evidence that a shooting took place, but the nature of the evidence was not released.

Police are reviewing the surveillance video from the hotel and are continuing their investigation.
