Robert Martin

Robert A. “Bob” Martin, 90, of Beauxart Gardens, died Thursday, March 5. He was born on January 17, 1925, in Waco, to Jack and Winona Martin.

Bob was a member of the United States Army Air Corp from 1943 to 1945. He then completed his mechanical engineering degree at LSU, and later began his career at Texaco Refinery, Port Arthur, in 1948. He retired from Texaco in 1982 after 34 years of service. He was a charter member of First Church of God, Port Arthur.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, J. B. Martin.

Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Faith Martin of Beauxart Gardens; daughters, Mary Faith Anger and her husband, Dennis, of Trophy Club; Janice Dowden and her husband, Darell, of Nederland; and Kathy Richardson of Nederland; sons, John Martin and his wife, Glenda, of Orange and Jack Martin of Austin; grandsons, Darren Anger, Jeremy Martin, Cory Haynes, Cody Dowden, Jacob Martin, Blaine Crocker, and Will Richardson; granddaughters, Deanna Akin and Mandy Arceneaux; and great-grandchildren, Brice and James Martin; Mason and Natalie Martin; Makenna and Cadence Anger; Owen, Evan and Alex Akin; and John Blake.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to New Century Hospice for their loving care, especially his care givers, Mona and Olivia.

A gathering of Mr. Martin’s family and friends will be at 10:00 a.m., with his memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 14, at First Church of God, 3800 Jimmy Johnson Boulevard, Port Arthur.
