The National Weather Service in Lake Charles is seeing rain with embedded thunderstorms moving north across the region today, in response to a weak low pressure area in the western Gulf of Mexico. This system is not a tropical storm nor does it have any characteristics of one. There are no strong winds associated with this system. There has been periods of heavy rain, resulting in minor flooding in urban and low-lying areas.
One more round of rain is expected this evening, before it tapers off by the morning.
This weekend and the first part of next week looks to be mostly dry, and warmer, with lows in the 50s and highs in the 70s.
The next significant rain maker won't occur until next Thursday at the earliest.
