Waunice McReynolds, 91, of Orange, passed away on March 17, at her home in Orange.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 19, at McDonald Memorial Baptist Church in Orange. Officiating will be Pastor Joel Warren. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 18, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Dawson, March 22, 1923, she was the daughter of Frank and Maggie Tekell. Waunice was a long time member of McDonald Memorial Baptist Church and a beautician for many years at Waunice’s Beauty Shop. She was involved in several groups at church including, Livewires and a ukulele band.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. McReynolds; parents, Frank and Maggie Tekell; brother, Lewis Tekell; sisters, Cleta Ruth and Eldred Olene (Tincey).
She is survived by her sons, Jay Don McReynolds and wife, Paula of Flower Mound, and Larry McReynolds and wife, Miriam of Bellville; daughters, Angela Holton of Beaumont, and Suzanne McClain and husband, Jim of Houston; 12 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Clint McReynolds, Scott McReynolds, A.J. McReynolds, Joel McClain, Eric Holton, Chuck Schulze and Cody Schulze.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children at 6977 Main Street, Houston, Texas 77030.
