Bennie Wells, Jr.

Bennie Deloy Wells Jr., 80, of Orange passed away Wednesday, March 18, at his residence.

Bennie was born Oct. 3, 1934 in Madison, Florida to Bertha Lenora (Johnson) and Bennie Deloy Wells Sr. He had lived in the Orange area since 1967 and was a member and a deacon of Little Cypress Baptist Church. He worked as a shift supervisor for many years at International Paper Mill in Orange. Bennie enjoyed going fishing, shrimping, camping and traveling with his wife Doris. Bennie was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be missed dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 56 years, Doris Wells; son, David Wells; brothers, Raymond Wells and Carlton Wells.

Bennie is survived by his daughters, Brenda Deshotel and husband, Ricky of Orange, Gina Schardan and husband, Rich of Bridge City; sister, Dorothy Hanks of Ennis, MT. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brandi Eads, Brad Eads, Corey Bourliea, Candace Bourliea, Chrissy Hammack, Jason Deshotel, five great grandchidlren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Sunday, March 22, from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Dorman Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 23, at 2:00 pm at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Autumn Oaks Memorial Park in Orange.

Honoring Bennie as pallbearers will be Rich Schardan, Ricky Deshotel, Jason Deshotel, Lee Church, Skyler Booth and Brad Eads.
