Wednesday, April 8, at 9:30 pm, officers with the Pinehurst Police Department responded to the Whataburger Restaurant, 2300 MacArthur Dr., in reference to an armed robbery. According to witnesses, a black male entered the restaurant, displayed a handgun and demanded cash from the register. The manager recognized the subject as a former employee.
An officer with the Orange Police Department spotted a vehicle leaving the area and conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of 16th St. and Green Ave. The lone occupant of the vehicle, a 19 year old black male, matched the description of the suspect and was found to be in possession of a handgun, ski mask and an undetermined amount of U.S. currency.He was identified as Lakendrick Jarone Sonnier, who lists an Orange address. rHe was subsequently arrested for aggravated robbery and is currently being held on a $25,000 bond in the Orange County Jail.
Aggravated robbery is a first degree felony and is punishable by 5 to 99 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
