BCHS participates in UIL District Academic Meet

Bridge City High School competed at the UIL District Academic Meet at Orangefield High School on Saturday, April 11. The following are the results from this contest:

In Literary Criticism, Jessica McKinney placed 1st and Tabi Blakeney placed 4th.

The Literary Criticism team of Jessica McKinney, Tabi Blakeney, Katelyn Mott, and Stephanie Romero took 1st place.

In Ready Writing, Brittany Lauritzen took 4th place.

The sponsor for these events is Diane Grooter.

In Spelling, Diana Pham took 1st place and Kevin Fontenot took 6th place.

The Spelling team of Diana Pham, Kevin Fontenot, Edward Doan, and Sarah Kidder took 2nd place.

The sponsor for Spelling is Kathie Dorma.

In Calculator Applications, Kendall Gibson took 1st place, Zach Dionne took 4th place and Moyleang Taing took 5th place.

The Calculator Applications team of Kendall Gibson, Zach Dionne, Moyleang Taing, and Kevin Fontenot took 1st place team.

In Mathematics, Kendall Gibson took 3rd place.

The Mathematics team of Kendall Gibson, Erik Harvey, Edward Doan, and Steve Nguyen took 2nd place.

In LD Debate, Emily Lawrence placed 1st and Ruby Sanders placed 2nd.

In Informative Speaking, Emily Lawrence placed 1st and Peyton Duke placed 2nd.

In Persuasive Speaking, Ruby Sanders took 4th place.

The sponsor for these events is Michael Blakeney.

In Editorial Writing, Amber Nguyen took 5th place. In Social Studies, Dane Piper placed 1st, Brianna Cross placed 2nd, Cameron Palermo placed 4th, and Moyleang Taing placed 6th. The Social Studies team of Dane Piper, Brianna Cross, Cameron Palermo, and Moyleang Taing took 1st place. The sponsor for these events is Don Miller

Those individuals who took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place and all 1st place teams will be advancing to the UIL Regional Meet at Sam Houston State University on April 24 and 25.
