Betty Jean Coon Sheridan, 73, of Orange, passed away May 9, in Lake Charles.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, May 15, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Pastor Damon Bickham of First Baptist Church of Deweyville. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm-9:00 pm, Thursday, May 14, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Monticello, Ar, Sept. 19, 1941, she was the daughter of Herbert S. Coon and Leslie Butler Coon. Betty was a member and a former president of the Ivy League Garden Club where she managed the annual production of the yearbook, and was a member of the Women’s Golf Association at Sunset Grove Country Club. She was a volunteer at Shangri La, and was a former member of The American Auxiliary Association of University Women where she created a cookbook to raise money for scholarships. Betty was a very talented artist who always brought a smile to your face, and touched the lives of many with her love and care. Her greatest love was her family, friends and home.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Hunter Sheridan, Jr.; sons, Kurt Stoneking and fiancée, Christin Bennett, of Lake Charles, Floyd Hunter Sheridan III and wife Ayda, of Tampa, Fl. and Cody Stoneking of Arizona; grandchildren, William Sheridan, Alex Sheridan, Macie Bennett, and Taylor Bennett; brother-in-law, Hans Sheridan and wife Jean and their daughter, Andrea Sheridan; sister, Judy Savola and husband Kari of North Carolina; nephew, Kyle Stanbrough; great nephews, Jacob Stanbrough, and Dillon Bailey; nieces, Tracey Stanbrough; great niece, Erica Stanbrough and a host of family and friends who all loved her.
